Popular Indian Food Recipe Series

This is one of the favorite vegetable Indian recipes. Here in US also we eat Spinach (Palak) in form of various dishes. Sometimes we use Spinach as a popular salad. Let me introduce you with 'Paneer'. Paneer is nothing but Ricotta cheese. In a special way they put Ricotta cheese under high pressure and extract all excess water. Once you do that it becomes solid and just like a cake. At any Indian store you can find this paneer. Paneers are available in a form of block of one or two pounds. The block of Paneer needs to be cut into small square pieces of half inch. I will recommend spinach from Wal-Mart. It is better to get one pack of spinach which is ready to eat from Wal-Mart.

Serving: Serves 4

Time of Preparation: 30 mints

Ingredients: These all ingredients are listed based on four serving plates. If you want to prepare little more or less, you need to adjust the amount of ingredients accordingly.

- One pack of Spinach (Palak).
- Paneer from Indian store - 1 lb.
- White onions chopped into small pieces - 1 large size.
- Green Chilli - 4 in numbers.
- Dry Kasuri Methi (Fenugreek) leaves - 2 tablespoons.
- Kauri Methi (Fenugreek) seed - one fourth of tablespoon.
- Cumin seed - one fourth of tablespoon.
- Vegetable oil as required.
- Sugar to taste.
- Salt to taste.

Process: The whole process of preparing this is very easy and actual preparation time is less than 30 minutes.

- Chop the onions and green Chilli into small pieces.

- Chop the spinach into small pieces.

- Cut the paneer into small square size of half inch.

- Take four tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan and make it hot.

- Put the pieces of paneer into the pan and fry it until it is little reddish. Keep the fried paneer aside within a separate blow.

- Add one or two more tablespoons of oil and put Cumin and Methi (Fenugreek) seed once the oil is ready for frying and then fry the chopped onions until the onions become brownish.

- Add chopped spinach within that frying pan and stir it until the spinach got cooked fully. This is good to cook the spinach in low flame with cover. If the whole thing is dry please add little water in order to cook it well. Little more oil and cover will help to cook it in moisture condition.

- Add fried paneer when spinach is almost done and add salt and little sugar to taste.

- Once this whole thing is cooked add dry Kasuri Methi (Fenugreek) leaves to enhance the taste.

I am sure you will love this delicious low fat dish. This is a great dish to have with bread or rice. This dish is very good for health and it is a low fat dish. Who are careful about their own diet and want to add little more fiber on their regular meal, Palak (Spinach) Paneer is very good dish for them.
