You can learn how to make a homemade pumpkin costume easily and inexpensively. Pumpkins are a classic Halloween costume that can be made without sewing. Making this costume can be quick with the right tips and tools. This article will provide you with detailed instructions on how to make a homemade pumpkin costume.

Supplies

If you are going to make a homemade pumpkin costume you will need some important supplies. The first thing you will need is a couple of yards of orange felt and about a yard of black felt. You will also need fabric glue, scissors, a marker, and paper. These supplies will be used for building the pumpkin body, but wearing a green turtleneck shirt and green or brown pants will really make this pumpkin costume come together.

Building the Pumpkin

Start this part of the costume by cutting 2 equal circles out of the orange felt. The circles should be large enough to cover your torso, shoulders, and hips. Then hold the circle up to your body. Use the marker to draw a line along the edge of the circle where your arm would come through. Do the same for your neck. You will also need to draw a line along the bottom according to the width of your hips.

Now lay the unmarked circle flat on the work surface. Place the marked circle on top. Add glue along the entire edge of the bottom circle except for where the marked lined rest; it is a good idea to add a few extra inches of unglued area at the ends of the marked lines. This will guarantee that you have enough room for your legs, arms, and head.

Press the two circles together and allow the glue to dry. When the felt has dried pull the circle inside out and try it on to make sure it fits well. Add extra glue where needed. Then lay the pumpkin body out flat on the work surface. Use the paper to draw a stencil of the eyes, mouth, and nose shape for your pumpkin. Cut the stencil out and use it to cut the shapes out of the black felt. Do so by placing the stencil on the black felt and cutting around the edge. For the larger mouth stencil feel free to pin the pencil in place.

Use the felt glue to attach the pumpkin's face to the body. When the entire Halloween costume has dried, try it on with your turtleneck for the finished look. This Halloween costume is fun to make. It does not require any sewing knowledge and does not take a long time to create. Try this easy Halloween costume if you want to be a pumpkin this Halloween.
