How to Make Homemade Snow Globes

Karen Barnes
I like snow globes. I only have three snow globes now. They are the larger snow globes that I bought over two years from a grocery store that I worked at. I had never thought about making my own before.

With the few links I have provided at the end of this article, you can make your own homemade snow globes with items you may have at home. Many of the ones I looked at besides the ones listed use jars and other small items that many of us have at home. For instance, we all have a glass jar that we have emptied. If you have small kids, you probably have toys that can be used in a snow globe.

You may also have glitter from your own crafts or from things your kids have made. About the only things you may have to buy is the silicon for sealing the jar and lid, possibly the glitter, and mineral oil or distilled water. If you read through the four homemade snow globe crafts, you may find you won't have to buy a thing for these homemade snow globes.

You could make your own homemade snow globes for decorating your home for any holiday. You could use plastic figurines for any of the holidays you celebrate in your home. Any of those Valentine's Day plastic rings or other things could be used for this holiday. The same goes for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4, Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah.

If you volunteer at hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers, or anything like this, these homemade snow globes could make great gifts for those who are in these places. Not only can you make them for those places, you can make them for day cares, schools, Sunday schools, or any other place where adults and kids hang out.

These homemade snow globes can be used as an activity for the kids on days they aren't able to go outside. This will allow them to let their creative side shine. You may be surprised at how well your kids will do with making their own snow globes.

If you're an adult and belong to a group who is looking for an indoor activity to do during the winter or on rainy days, everyone could make their own snow globe as an activity for your group.

We used to make these in school and used baby food jars. They seemed so magical!
