Materials: Brand New Garden Hose
Funnel or Plastic Bottle
Duct Tape
Step 1: First thing you want to do is make sure your garden hose is brand new. It's ok to use a previously used garden hose, but I personally just wouldn't recommend it due to dirt and grime purposes. Get the hose and cut about 3 feet of it off, that's all you're going to need since the longer the hose, the harder it is to blow.
Step 2: Cut off a 4 to 5 inch piece of duct tape. You will need more but this is just for right now.
Step 3: The next step is to take the funnel and place it one end of the garden hose. If you don't have a funnel you can simply use the neck of a plastic bottle. Cut the plastic bottle right below the neck line, before it gets to the paper. Once done take the piece you cut and place it in one side of the tube. Something to remember is that they bigger the funnel/bottle neck, the louder the sound coming from it will be.
Step 4: Take the piece of tape you had previously cut and attach it to the end of the hose where your funnel is. Make sure to hold the funnel in place as you scroll the tape around it otherwise it will fall out.
Step 5: Once half way secured in place, take the duct tape roll and begin wrapping and wrapping it around the end of the hose where you just placed the last piece. Do this until the funnel is absolutely sturdy. You can do the upside down test, if you can hold the hose upside down and the funnel doesn't fall out, it's secured properly.
Step 6: The last step is to coil the hose into a circle and then secure by adding more duct tape. Basically take the open end that doesn't have the funnel and curl it once attaching it to another piece of hose. Make sure you tape tight but not to tight otherwise no air will be able to get thru the hose.

Reading it was great fun!
Great fun.
I agree with Dr. Marable. You should do a follow-up piece. I was looking for page two (which would give you more page views too) for instructions on proper techniques to get the sound. I guess we need to experiment with that but a video would be so cool!
I am absolutely putting this on my "must do with the kids" list of summer activities. Learning and making music can be fun!
