This is a fun project to do in a school, or with a group of young children, or with your own kids at home. Everyone will enjoy this project together, and the outcome is a beautiful and special homemade wreath.
What you will need:
cardboard
construction paper, red, orange,yellow
scissors
glue gun
Trace a small plate and a large plate onto the cardboard. Cut out strips of construction paper at about 1 1/2 inches by 4 inches. Use the glue gun to glue the strips into rolls, like you are making a paper chain, and then glue the rolls onto the wreath. Trace a child's foot onto a piece of white paper for the turkey's head. Color it brown. for the beak, cut out a teardrop shape from orange construction paper and paste it onto the head. Cut out eyes and a red wobbler. Fold a piece of orange paper in half, cut out a foot shape, and then separate into two identical feet. Glue the feet onto the back of the wrath, the footprint body to the front, and then the face to the body. Let dry and hang up.
Turkey Wreath #2
This is a great project to do a s a group in the classroom. The whole class can get into making the paper curls to attach to the wreath.
What you will need:
Brown poster board
brown construction paper
different colors of construction paper
glue
tape
scissors
primary colored pencils
colored copy paper
What the kids can do:
Kids can pick out a sheet of copy paper and cut several strips from them. They can then curl the strip and tape the ends of them together. All the kids can make a few each.
The adult can cut a big circle shape from the brown poster board. Then cut the middle out so it resembles a lifesaver candy with a hole in the middle. To make the head, cut out a giant thumb shape from the brown construction paper. Use the different colors of construction paper to make a beak, eyes, and wattle, and glue to the turkey's head. Then glue the whole head to the inside of the cut-out circle. Two feet can be made from orange construction paper, and glued to the back of the circle so they appear to stick out of the bottom. Then, glue on the colored strips of paper, already rolled, tape side down to the body to create feathers. Alternate colors and cover completely. Let dry, and you are done!
