Horse Finger Puppets
Finger Puppets are always fun. You can make different kinds of horse finger puppets to give out as party favors that the kids will love. Cut horse shapes from pieces of brown, white, black, and blonde felt. If you are hosting a girl's party, you can use other colors such as pink and purple. You will need two horse shapes to make each horse.
First, lay one piece flat on your work surface. Cut pieces of yarn for the mane and tail and glue them to the felt in the appropriate places. If you are making a unicorn, cut a small horn from another piece of felt and glue it to the horse form. Next, take the matching felt horse shape and lay it on top. Glue or stitch the two pieces together carefully around the edge. Leave a small space in the stomach area of the horse where a finger can be inserted into the toy.
You can draw or sew little eyes onto your horse once you have finished. Other cute decorations include a yarn bridle and a saddle made from a piece of felt.
Unicorn Pencils
Pencils make great party favors because they are useful year-round. Kids always need new pencils for school. If you are unable to find pencils with a horse or unicorn theme, you can make your own. All you need are some very small horse or unicorn stickers. Stick them to your pencils for instant pizzazz. Horse stickers can be used to decorate a number of party items including party blowers, hats, and tote bags.
Wooden Toys
If you have a jig saw and some spare time, you can make heirloom wooden toys to give away as party favors. All you need to do is trace a horse shape onto a piece of wood (be sure not to use treated lumber as it contains arsenic) and cut it out using a jig saw. Use a sander to smooth the edges and remove splinters. You can stain them, leave them plain, or paint them using acrylic paints. These are one party favor that you can be sure will last a long time.
Horse Candies
Candy molds are fun and easy to use and are a great way to make special treats for a horse themed birthday party. Candy molds can be found in most craft and party supply stores and can be used with both hard candy and chocolate. Most craft stores will also sell candy mix in the same section, so look around and see what the store provides. Many places will sell unicorn or horse themed candy molds.
Horse Coloring Books
You can make your own coloring books for free if you have a printer. Check websites that offer free printable coloring pages of horses or unicorns. You can print these images out onto paper and cut them into small booklets. Fold and staple them and include a small box of crayons or colored pencils.
Horse Balloons
Can you fold animal balloons? Even if you can't you can learn. Buy a package of animal balloons from your local party supply store and check online to see how you can make a simple horse-shaped animal balloon or even a horse balloon hat. Practice with a few balloons to get really good at it. Be sure to have them ready and made before the party. It is not a good idea to write the names of the kids on the balloons as marker ink can make balloons pop.

Post a CommentVery creative suggestions! I always loved unicorns when I was a kid.
I love unicorns myself. Cute ideas.
Heres another I'll probably use. E-mailed it to my daughter who wants to plan my 8 yr. olds party.
