How to Host an Arm-Wrestling Philanthropy Event

Reba M
Need a great philanthropy fund-raising event for a fraternity or other organization? An arm-wrestling competition is a great and simple option. This event can be planned in a limited amount of time and with a limited amount of expense. To host this event, there are several items of business that need to be decided and completed including location, admission, entry fee, advertisement, rules, time and date.

First, in order to make money for a charity it is important that the event makes money. An arm wrestling event can make money in several ways. First, the entry fee paid by those individuals that want to compete in contest, which should be between five and twenty dollars but should be reasonable for people to pay and should be targeted at those people that are wanted to compete. Secondly, people should be charged at the door to watch the event. The door charge should be less then the entry fee and should be somewhat cheap so that a lot of people are likely to attend. Finally, people should be encouraged to make donations and the cost of the event can be covered through donations from businesses. Businesses should also be encouraged to donate directly to the cause that the event is being held to help.

This event needs to be held in a location with a lot of table and that is centrally located so that the turn out to the event will have a great turnout. The time and date of the arm wrestling contest should also be planned to increase the turnout and should attempt not to conflict with other large events.

The more publicity and advertisement that is done for the event the greater the turnout will be and the more money that will be raised by the event. Advertising in local newspapers and placing filers around town are great and easy ways to advertise the event. Yet, the best means of advertisement is word of mouth so the event should be placed on facebook or other networking sites and people in the area should be invited.

The rules for this event should be set up prior to the event and should be clearly displayed and explained at the beginning of the event to help limit confusion. Additionally, these rules should be clear to those helping put on the event, to help the event run smoothly. Finally, the divisions of competition and the prizes for each need to be determined and the brackets for each division needs to be put together and posted around the event. The prizes if at all possible should all be donated by local businesses increasing the money made by the event for the charitable cause.
