How to Host a Fun and Entertaining GIRLS ONLY Dinner Party

Amb
Before you decide on having a party you need to make a list of guests. You can't have a decent party without a number of guests to entertain. Before you start creating ideas for your party you need to get a rough estimate of when everyone will be available or if they will be able to make it. Once you get an estimate on a date that everyone will be able to meet you can begin planning your party.

First you need to create invitations and decide on a theme of your party. You could use any type of theme you want but make sure that it can be done. The best way to create a decent invitation is to make it yourself. Store bought invitations are not that inviting. I would suggest that you either go to a craft store or a local dollar store when you figure out what your theme is going to be. It could be anything but for this party it's going to be girls only.

At a local craft store you will find an assortment of paper supplies. These invitations should be hand delivered. They are going to be delicate and dainty so it's better that you hand deliver them. First you need a color pattern to go by. For this party we are going to use black, white, and pink as our main colors. We will start by getting paper that can go through the printer. It should be rather thick but thin enough to go through a printer with no jams. A pink paper would be nice with some designs on it but you are going to be able to create your own designs when it comes down to it. If you don't have a printer you can go to a copying store to have them print the invitations. Buy enough paper for at least two mistakes just in case you mess one or two up. If you want to create your own designs you can buy additional items such as stamps or glitter marker pens. There are also transfers you can buy.

You're going to need ribbon to tie around the invitations and some sort of material you can use to put behind the invitation. A mesh fabric will do. You will need enough of it to line the back of the invitations. You will also need gift bags to give out. The gift bags are cheap at a dollar store but you have more of a selection at a craft store. Once you find the bags you will need some goodies to go inside. Think of something that all the girls will like. They have many things at craft stores that you can buy for this. There is a candy making section where you will need chocolate molds and lollipop sticks. If you want to make something else like chocolate heart shaped boxes there are kits for that also. For the dinner part of the night you are going to need some things to spruce up the food. For drinks you should buy creative looking straws and maybe some cute little umbrellas.

For the food you are going to need serving platters, cute napkins, ribbons, place mats, and seating cards. You can purchase index cards and decorate them to create a cute seating card or you can buy the foam door handle notices. The ones that usually say DO NOT DISTURB but instead you can write on it yourself. You can write GIRLS ONLY and then their names on them. I suggest buying white ones and permanent markers for decorating them. You will have everyone write something on eachothers at the end of the night but in the beginning of the place mats can be purchased from a dollar store or you can make them yourself. You can use poster paper by gluing a few pieces of poster paper together. Serving platters can be purchased when you go to the grocery store but if you want to decorate them you should buy some supplies while your at the craft store. Your going to need some sort of toothpicks and kabob sticks. You can get fancy ones at the craft store and grocery store. If you want to, get decorations for your house. It will make the party more lively.

Once you finish at the craft store the next thing you will need to do is create a menu of food you will be preparing. The whole food portion of the party is basically your decision due to what you like or don't like. Here is a sample of my list.

Appetizers

Fresh Fruit and Fruit Dip (Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Pineapple)

Vegetables and Dip (Broccoli, Carrots, Celery, Cucumbers)

Cheese and Crackers (Assortment of cheeses and crackers)

Drinks(Depends on whether or not you want them alcoholic or non-alcoholic.)

Grenadine

Sprite

Maraschino Cherries and pineapple

I suggest getting additional drinks but for the main drink of the night this will be it. This will be the drink you will add your decorations.

Thank You Notes

You will certainly have some left over.

The Dinner.

You will need a main course. For instance, chicken or steak. Kabobs are the best to make for parties. They are inexpensive and please everyone. You will of course find someone who won't eat steak kabobs but you can also make chicken kabobs. I suggest getting both chicken and steak. You should also make a salad. It doesn't really matter what kind but a cold salad would be easier. An antipasto is great.

Making the Party

You will need to create an invitation on your computer. You can use this for a reference.

You are cordially invited to a GIRLS ONLY V.I.P Dinner Party.

Your are invited to attend a get together including free beverages and food all night!

What could be better?

Make sure the text is printed in the center of the page. Decorate each one how you want them. Your going to need glue so you can glue the mesh fabric on the back of the paper. Once the fabric dries on the back of the invitations, roll them up like scrolls and tie them with ribbon. You can write the names of each person in glitter pen on them if you want. Hand deliver each one and let them know what you have on the menu. Perhaps you could put that in the invitation.

After the invitations are done you need to make each place mat and seating card. The door notices are great ideas. Write on them with fabric pen. On the back write DO NOT DISTURB and on the front write GIRLS ONLY and their name underneath. The place mats are up to you. If you make them using poster paper cut each rectangle different sizes and glue them together. Write the names of each person on them. If you do not have a big enough area to have everyone sit at the table you can roll each place mat up and tie them with ribbon and give them away with the gift bags and seating cards. Next on the list is to prepare the chocolate lollipops. Once those are made you can freeze them. The Popsicle sticks usually come with wrappers and tie wraps. Those will be for the gift bags and make extra so you give them out when people arrive . All you have to do is wait for the day of the party.

When the day arrives..

Personalize the thank you notes you want to put in each gift bag.Get ready for a party! Make sure the entire house is clean. Get each place mat and seating card in position. Also put the gift bags with the place mats. Wrap utensils in napkins and tie them with ribbons. Prepare all the dips and start slicing the vegetables and fruit for the dips. Put them aside and slice the meat and chicken in chunks. You also want to slice the onion and peppers in chunks. Season both the meat and chicken. Once the meats are seasoned, make the salad. Start by washing all the vegetables and assembling them together like a normal salad. When it comes to the meats you need to layer the mortadella, turkey, ham, and cheese in that order. Roll the meats like a scroll and slice them in half inch chunks. Put them on top of the salad and wrap the salad up. Get a large pot of water for the corn or you can use the grill. Plate the fruit and dip, crackers and cheese, and vegetables and dip. Get the house decorated.

You're going to need some places to put the platters. Get two plates you can put new toothpicks and used toothpicks on. When you put out the place mats and seating cards make sure you put the markers out so you can have the girls decorate them while they're waiting for the food to be done. Get two large frying pans on the stove top ready for cooking. Start the food 15 minutes before everyone comes. When they arrive the food may be done but as soon as they walk in give them one of the pops you made. Put it in the oven for a bit. When everyones ready for dinner put the chicken and vegetables together in one platter then the beef and vegetables in another. The corn should be served on an additional platter. Have everyone put their own kabobs together. They'll love it and it will be a great way to talk to each other and have fun. After dinner have a drink and talk for a while. Don't forget to give everyone their gift bags, place mats, and seating cards. Enjoy!
