Score Big with Food, Fun and Friends

Whether you are a football fanatic or a pigskin widow, you might consider hosting a Super Bowl party this year. While having a Super Bowl party in your home can seem like a stressful undertaking, with a little know-how your party can be the talk of the neighborhood without stressing you out. The following ideas will help you throw an NFL MVP-worthy party for the Super Bowl that even you, as the host, will enjoy!

The first step to having a great Super Bowl party will be your guest list. While you obviously will want to invite all your football fan friends, don't discount inviting other fun-loving folks just because they don't share a passion for the game. There is bound to be one half of a few couples that aren't crazy about football, and they will be relieved to know they aren't the only ones there. The basic thing to remember for any party is to invite people whose company you enjoy, and who others have a good time around.

While you might feel that you need to go all out to impress your guests, a Super Bowl party is really all about the game. Food should be simple, hardy, easy to eat one-handed (you can't expect your Super Bowl fans to take their eyes off the screen just to feed their faces!), and abundant. Some great ideas for Super Bowl party food include a variety of savory dips and finger foods. You can find some delicious recipes by clicking here. And no one is going to complain if you serve pizza and wings from the delivery joint up the road!

Beverages should be equally simple, with some variety. Consider filling a cooler or buckets with ice, and loading them with soft drinks, bottled water, and - need I add? - beer. For plates, napkins and utensils, stick with good old paper or plastic. If you feel the need to decorate, consider hanging some old NFL team jerseys on the walls. You can also make a cake or cookies decorated with Super Bowl embellishments such as football shaped cookies in your favorite - or both - team colors, or check out this fun recipe for a 3-D football cake.

One major Super Bowl party consideration is seating. There should be lots of it, is ought to be comfortable, and it obviously needs to be facing the Super Bowl's most vital home appliance: the television, which should have the largest screen possible! Chairs and couches are the best choices, but you can bring in bean bags, big pillows, and video game chairs from your kids' rooms as well. And if the food and drinks are in non-viewing areas you might want to set up additional, smaller TVs in those areas.

While Super Bowl parties pretty much include their own entertainment, you might consider some fun activities for those less involved in the game, or for slower times and breaks. You can find some fun ideas by clicking here. Another suggestion is to have a board game area with lively, involving games. And if your guest list includes the youngest team members, consider hiring a babysitter for the day.

Now that you've got your Super Bowl party game plan, you can plan on scoring big with your guests and having an enjoyable, relaxing time yourself.
