How to Host a Super Bowl Party

Hosting a Super Bowl party can be a lot of fun. For the first time in years, I plan on hosting my own Super Bowl party along with my housemates, and I am really excited. As a native New Yorker, this is the first time since 2000 in which a New York team has made the Super Bowl. In the year 2000, the Giants made the Super Bowl only to get destroyed by the Baltimore Ravens.

This time around, the Giants look like they have a much better team than in 2000 and only two players from that team remain on this 2008 team: Michael Straham and Amani Toomer. The Giants have the confidence and are 2 touchdown underdogs so expectations are low for most people; just don't tell that to New Yorkers like myself who fully expect the Giants to win the game.

For your Super Bowl, you need three very important things: a big television, food and beer. Some people have huge 60 inch television screens or flat screen televisions or even High Definition T.V. However, none of those are really necessary. The ideal size of your television screen should be 40 inches or more and don't worry if you don't have Hi-Def or blue-ray. Most people just are happy watching the game.

Now as for food, there are two solutions: you can order pizza or wings or you can order both which is even better. I would suggest buying cheap pizza and scoping out the cheapest pizza deals for Super Bowl Sunday. Most pizza places will have special deals on pizza because they know that everyone orders pizza for the Super Bowl. Wings are also a favorite at the Super Bowl.

Now as for drinks, any real football fan will tell you that they love drinking a beer with the game. Make that several beers if you will, while watching the game. You won't need to get a keg, but you will need to get several 24 packs, depending on how many people are at your house or apartment to watch the game. Figure that each person on average will drink 3 or 4 beers during the game.

As for seating, don't really worry about it. Guys don't care if they sit on the floor. If you have a couch, you might want to put a sheet over it so that food and beer doesn't get on it. Just bring any chairs you have in your house into the room where the Super Bowl is being watched.

Invite all your friends and relatives to your Super Bowl party. You might also want to create some cheap betting games to create some excitement. Make the bets very cheap so that people don't care if they lose the money.

Then just sit back, relax and enjoy the game.
