How to Hypnotize a Chicken

You Can Really Hypnotize a Chicken

Shana Dines
I really thought that this couldn't possibly be a true story that was told to me by a 91-year-old lady from church. She is a real character that has outlived 2 husbands and 2 boyfriends. She said that another fellow said that he wanted to ask her out on a date but was afraid to, because she has already outlived 4 guys.

I attribute her good health and longevity to never having bore children, and square dancing. I am sure that the square dancing helps because she is getting exercise. She also probably weighs about 90 pounds soaking wet. She blew my theory on the not bearing children attributing to her good health by informing me that she gave birth to and raised 9 children. Her first husband died and then she married again and had 5 children with her second husband, or it could be the other way around.

None of this has anything to do with the fact that her one son hypnotized their chickens on their 50-acre farm. The 50-acre farm probably has nothing to do with his hypnotizing chickens either. I suppose the hysteria of taking care of a 50-acre farm might have attributed to his talent. Then again you would think that he would have had plenty to do with helping take care of a 50-acre farm.

She told me that she would go out to the farmyard and he would have hypnotized the chickens. I suppose it could have been 2 chickens or 20 chickens. I just pictured all of these chickens lying on ground in various poses of repose. She even said that he took one to school to show his classmates how he hypnotized a chicken. All of the teachers came down to witness this event.

I have laughed to myself and out loud several times thinking about this story. I asked her how he got them to come out of their trance. She said that he would clap his hands and they would snap out of it. I was so intrigued by this story that I actually did a search on it, and believe it or not you can find youtube videos on how to hypnotize a chicken. You can also find videos on how to hypnotize a cat, people and various other animals and people.

Come to think of it I wonder if maybe Helen's good health and longevity might have something to do with her sense of humor? She is amazing, funny, and can really kick up her heels with her dancing. Just in case anyone is interested, she is looking for a new boyfriend.

There has been a lot of sad and grievous things going on in our family and around us so I thought that this would be something to write about that was funny instead of tragic.

Very nice to see you laughing! I had clients that used to have me in stitches laughing at 90 and 100 years old. I also attributed their longevity to their good humor.

PS, I should have added that I too am so sorry for all the trouble that you have had to endure. Some great day in the new heaven, when can talk and see what all the reasons for our sufferings were for.

How funny....I once heard of a man being hypnotized at a night club and he was told he was a chicken...and his friends said he acted like one. What a deal.
