Many times people don't take well to new ideas. It's hard to be the first guy on the block and be ahead of your time. I know because I have been such many times.
Many times scientific breakthroughs met opposition from the world of religion. Ideas like the Earth revolving around the sun and heart transplants were considered to be heretical but now we know that they are factual. Obviously, sometimes you have to buck the establishment.
In religion, the first iconoclast (it means idol breaker) was the Patriarch Abraham. He literally destroyed his father's idols in an effort to prove to his father, Terach, that only The One God should be worshipped.
In that story in the Midrash, one of Judaism's extra-biblical works, Abraham had the idea to try to formulate a correct notion about divinity. First, he saw the sun come up and he saw how it helped people to see. So, he started to worship the sun.
But next, the sun went down and up came the moon. So, he started to worship the moon. But next day, well you know the story. So Abraham decided that there must be a power and intelligence behind it that everything sprung from. That he called God.
The next thing he did, was he tried to sell his idea to his father who was an idol maker. Remember, even according to the monotheistic tradition, by Abraham's time very few people retained the knowledge of God that Adam and Eve had. I think the Order of Malchizidek was still around but in need to research it.
Abraham went into his father's shop and took a sledgehammer to all the idols except the biggest one. He destroyed all the lesser images.
When his father came home, Terach asked Abraham what happened. Abraham told his father that the biggest idol got jealous of all the smaller ones and destroyed them.
It seemed preposterous to Terach. He told Abraham, "They have eyes but see not. They have ears but they hear not. They have mouths but can't speak or eat." Abraham told him, "Yes, I know all of this so why are you selling them?"
I don't know whether Terach himself actually believed in the idols, but well it's a good business. Just look at how much money our modern day counterparts in the rock and roll world and in TV earn.
Fast forward, now it is Christmas day in the first year of Jesus Christ. A new iconoclast is born who shakes the very foundations of world religion. He introduces the concept that the long awaited redeemer of mankind is now born and he starts his ministry when he is 30 years old.
In three short years, Jesus rewrites the rules in monotheism. He claims to be God incarnate, something not agreeable to the Jewish masses and he claims "No one comes to the Father, but by me." He claims also parity with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit and he becomes an outcast among his own people.
He creates a new order based on his teachings and 12 ordinary men (See John MacArthur's book of that name) and he manages to spark a revolution of which its impact will be felt around the world. A random and disorganized world begins to take shape and the world starts to become civilized.
But it doesn't stop there. The Roman Catholic Church starts to take off around the year 500 AD and now, Catholicism has about 1.2 billion adherents. The Jewish world redacts the Talmud or Gemara at the very same time forging modern Judaism.
Next comes Mohammed who claims to be "The Seal of the Prophets" in the Moslem world about the year 700AD. Mohammed was impacted by the Jewish leaders and also by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, he also came up with a new formulation and his ideas took off among the Arabs and other Middle Easterners, except among the Jewish people.
After that, Martin Luther formulates the Protestant Church and he bucks the system as per Catholicism. His ideas take off too.
In the Far East, Hinduism is confronted with the claims of Buddha who is called, "The Holy Devil who deceives many people." Hinduism and Buddhism have about 1 billion adherents too. Countervailing forces are at work and the Gods of the world balance each other off.
Judaism experienced many changes too. The Conservative Movement, the Reform Movement and Chasidism also made headway and bucked the mainstream. New ideas came up and changes started to take off.
In the world of education, universities constantly come up with new ideas. Harvard is one university that has always been the vanguard of change. I actually went to Boston U (See my writings down the page) and got better grades than someone who later on attended Harvard.
But the problem is how to sell your products and services. Charles Goodyear invented the process of vulcanizing rubber but he died broke financially. His relatives made money off of this invention though.
Bill Gates came up with Windows and I tied to sell the idea to my relatives who had a computer business, but at first the system was too slow. Eventually, it caught on though.
I have found myself being in innovative programs and have been on the cutting edge myself in new programs. Alternative education has worked for me and all of my readers benefit from my knowledge, education and experience.
In '84, my family left to go overseas to Israel. I finished my college education at Empire State College. ESC told me I took enough business courses. They wanted to round me out. So I took courses in Hebrew, Arabic history, Jewish history, and music theory.
Later on I had a Moslem landlord and I managed to make a good impression on him because I knew about Islam. I mean, I told him abut topics that most Jews don't know about.
In September '85, I enrolled in the Boston University/Ben Gurion University of the Negev Joint Master of Science in Management Program (MSM). But no one in Israel that I met understood what it was all about and I had to go back to America to find work.
My father always says, "It' s not what you know but what people think you know that counts." He also says things like, "Charles Dickens wrote a book by that name, Great Expectations!" Man can life be infuriating sometimes.
I designed a lot of software for AT&T but was downsized. But I never gave up. I took courses in music, freelance writing and also gave speeches relative to people with disabilities in the State House in Trenton, NJ.
I have turned my attention to writing because it occurs to me that the world is in need of my ideas and thoughts. With loads of free time and a lot of cogitation, I am starting to build up a portfolio that will rock the world.
My hope is that the gates of heaven will open up to my prayers and I can benefit mankind before I am gone from this earth. It will be to your benefit to take me seriously. As of yet, the so-called "real world" hasn't appreciated my greatness yet. Ok, you can laugh here I meant this somewhat in jest.
