How to Identify and Replace Barbie Doll Toys Recalled on 9/4/07 Due to Lead Paint

"Come on Barbie, let's get recalled."

Once again, children's toys manufactured in China for a U.S. company have been recalled because they were made with unsafe levels of lead paint. This is the second time in less than a month that children's toys have been recalled for the same reason, under the same circumstances.

Complete Barbie Doll Toy Recall

All of these sets of toys contain a recalled product. There is no need to locate the product number on the toy set, only to find the piece or pieces that are affected.

1. Barbie Bathtub and Toilet Playset

The cat toy is being recalled.

2. Barbie Couch & Table Living Room Playset

The purse is being recalled.

3. Barbie Desk and Chair Bedroom Playset

The dog toy is being recalled.

4. Barbie Futon and Table Living Room Playset

The cat toy is being recalled.

5. Barbie Table and Chairs Kitchen Playset

The dog, the chip platter and the dinner plates are being recalled.

Partial Barbie Doll Toy Recall

Only some of the following toys are being recalled. Parents and caregivers need to check the product number on the toys. The product number may be found on the bottom of the products.

1. Barbie Dream Kitty Condo Playset due to the lead paint on the toy cat. If the condo contains a number in either of the following number range, the toy falls under the recall: 286-6JX through 365-6JX
001-7JX through 232-7JX

Consumers can return the cat for a replacement toy cat.(See the instructions further down, under Mattel's remedy.)

2. Barbie Dream Puppy House due to the toy dog's coat of lead paint. If the puppy house toy contains a number in either of the following number range, the toy falls under the recall:86-6JX through 365-6JX
001-7JX through 232-7JX.

Consumers can return the dog for replacement with a safer dog toy. (See the instructions further down, under Mattel's remedy)

Barbie Doll Toy Hazard

The Barbie doll toy accessories are being recalled due to " excessive levels of lead which is prohibited under federal law" according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Where this Recalled Baby Product Was Sold

These toys are sold at any major retailer that sells children's toys.

Action for Consumers Who Own this Recalled Baby Product:

If you have a Barbie doll toy accessory that is on the list follow these steps:

1. Immediately take the Mattel toy away from the child.
2. See Mattel's Remedy below.
3. For any further questions or problems, contact the USPSC Recall Hotline: (800) 638-2772.

Mattel's Remedy

1. Go to www.service.mattel.com to find the product.
2. Fill out the online form and Mattel will mail you a brochure for identifying affected products. Mattel will also mail you a pre-paid envelope in which the recalled toy can be returned.
3. OR call (888) 496-8330 and give your mailing address so they can send you the brochure and envelope.
4. After Mattel receives the recalled part, they will send you a replacement part, and according to Mattel "bonus pieces and parts."

    Great information! Thankfully all of our Barbies went into the trash with the cat decided the toy box was her litter box. Maybe she knew something we did not know.

    I had to take just about all of my daughters Polly Pocket toys away and she was so upset. I didn't know that I could get replacements, but luckily I just put them up and didn't throw them away. Thanks for the info!
