How to Use IE-Spyad to Enhance Your Privacy and Security
A Tutorial on How to Using IE-Spyad to Protect Your Computer's Security
This block list adds numerous unwanted sites to the Restricted Sites zone of Internet Explorer. It is installed to your hard drive in the form of a Windows Registry file.
Although the program will not protect your from all sites, it will protect your from most malicious sites on the World Wide Web. IE-Spyad imports a large file filled with registry entries. A list of known sites ad domains that pose a security threat is found in this list. IE-Spyad works for the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 4.01, 5.01, 5.5, and 6.0.
When you run the installation for IE-Spyad, you will need to place the file in the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains.
You will first need to download the IE-Spyad program from this link: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm#IESPYAD. Download the file named IE-SPYAD.EXE. This file can be found in the "Download" section of the website.
Installing the IE-Spyad program
Method #1
*Once you have downloaded it, double-click the file you downloaded.
*Double-click the file, ie-ads-uninst.reg.
*You will be asked if you want to add the files to be added to the registry. Click Yes to proceed.
The files will now be placed in the Restricted Sites section in Internet Options. These sites will now have limited privileges, thus increasing your security.
Method #2
*Open the batch file named install.bat.
*Double click the file, and you will be presented with a command prompt.
*Hit "2" on your keyboard to install the IE-Spyad list.
*Once you have pressed 2, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to install IE-Spyad. I'm guessing that you want to install IE-Spyad, so click Yes.
*IE-Spyad is now installed.
If the installation was successful, you will hit the spacebar and the number 2 on your keyboard to exit.
The entries in IE-Spyad will now be added to the Restricted Sites zone on your computer. You can verify this by opening Internet Explorer and clicking Tools and then Internet Options. Click on the Security tab and select the Restricted Sites icon. You should see a list of websites installed by IE-Spyad.
Now that you have a list of a malware-related sites in the Restricted zone, your computer will be more secure because these sites cannot run ActiveX controls, download programs, or perform any potentially dangerous acts.
