How Can Ignorance Be Bliss?

If Truth Can Set Us Free Why Do Some People Prefer to Be Ignorant?

It does not matter what the circumstances are when it comes to learning the truth. The main purpose is to unearth the truth and then go from there. Ignorance will only encourage you to make decisions without really seeing the bigger picture.

But sometimes, knowing the truth will not bring you convenience. In fact, most of the time it will bring you so much misery. But then again it is just a matter of perspective, is it not?

When it comes to relationships, would you rather not know that your partner is cheating on you? Would it make you feel comfortable that he is not transparent with his actions? Does it make you feel good knowing that he is not contented with your company and thus, he seeks another?

These are the questions that the Bible can address with authority.

The truth is that we belong to God and we are to do what he wants us to do being controlled by the desire to love him just as he loves us and is very much willing to die for us. The good news is that we have the power to choose what we think is best for us. Christ gave us that power when he came to earth as a man who died and rose from death for our sake.

Knowing the truth that we have the free will to follow obediently or ignore God's will, gives us a feeling of superiority, does it not? No one can oblige us to do what we do not want to do. In this note, we can claim that we have the power to take control over certain matters in our life. We can somehow create situations knowingly or unknowingly for our own benefit.

We can create the reality that we want. Even if that reality can be clouded with ignorance.

People at present are just like people from ancient times. We are controlled by fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of being alone. Fear of being a failure. These are just to name a few. But then again, the good news of salvation includes freeing us from this monster.

Fear has no control over us anymore when we are already deeply hidden in the heart of Christ. Out from the grasp of fear we go through life with meaning. We are aware that the situation we have chosen can hurt us but still we enter through it with open eyes and a heart full of hope.

When in the end the pain of your choices seems to consume you, you have your loving Christ that will cradle you till you are ready to move on once more. Trust and believe. Make up your mind, ignore pain, knowing that there is nothing more exciting than to experience life and love even if it is sprinkled with too many wounds in your heart.
