How to Make iMacros Run Faster with Firefox

Lance Esondi
If you are using a tool like iMacros, you are doing so to save time doing automated tasks in the browser quickly and efficiently without having to be there physically clicking the mouse or using the keyboard to get things done. With iMacros, there are ways of saving time by making the process more efficient when using Firefox - if you make some changes.

First off, take advantage profiles. This browser gives you the ability of setting up alternative profiles. Each profile will have different settings for you to use. This means you can set one up to use for iMacros alone as opposed to browsing.

In this profile, have limited add-ons running. Each of these takes up processing power and RAM that could otherwise be used for the processes you are trying to automate. A cleaner add-on free profile will be best and fastest.

One add-on that you should consider installing is AdBlockPlus. Why have the ads loading when no one is even looking at the screen? AdBlockPlus will block many Flash ads as well as scripts that can sometimes slow down the browsing process. This means more work will get done in less time.

Turn off Flash completely. Unless you are specifically working with a Flash-related object, you won't need to use Flash at all when using iMacros. Turning it off will make everything more efficient.

Disable the images. Each of these are taking up bandwidth when loading. If they are off, pages load faster and everything works for efficiently.

For certain tasks, consider using iMacros in private mode. Sometimes, especially when dealing with logins and passwords, if you weren't logged out before, your macro can get stuck. In private mode, you know you are logged out of everything and it won't hang up like it otherwise would.

If you make these changes, your macros will be more efficient because you have removed the obstacles in your way as much as possible.
