Because of these idiots errors of greed your ability to get credit is going to be extremely difficult for the next few years so you should do everything in your power to fix your credit situation that you currently have. Buying a home or a car will be near impossible without the highest of credit ratings for the foreseeable future. If you are having trouble paying off your current bills, than you need to get a handle on the situation as soon as possible. I can't stress enough how tough it is going to be to get credit in the coming years. This is where credit repair comes in handy.
Knowing how to repair one's credit is important, but knowing how credit repair works is even more so. Doing it yourself or hiring a company to assist you is up to you, but you can see the advantages from hiring a professional.
What is credit repair?
Credit Repair is as it sounds a technique to improve your credit score. We all have credit scores from the moment we get our first credit card to the time we start making big purchases like cars and homes. Eventually we are offered multiple credit cards and our favorite stores try to jam their credit cards down our throats at every chance. It can become difficult to refuse a credit card, especially when a promotion is tied in to it. You don't really need to refuse the credit card, just payoff the balance as soon as possible.
It's your timeliness in payment and how many credit cards you have that affects your credit score. Even having credit cards with no balance can be damaging to your credit score. Weird, huh? Closing these unused credit cards is part of money management, and money management is the most important part of your credit score.
There are several places to get your credit report so I won't cover that in this article, but if your credit score is being affected only by the number of credit cards you have than you don't really have a problem. Just call the credit card companies and tell them to close your account. Don't fall for any deals they are trying to make with you since it will only adversely affect your credit score.
However, if you see that you have bad debts from years ago that you had completely forgot about, or you just couldn't pay at the time and moved on, a credit repair company can really help you here. Also, if you are unfortunate enough to be in the position of not being able to keep up with your current debts, a credit repair company can be invaluable for this situation.
Most credit repair service companies do business with other companies that can consolidate your debt into one smaller monthly payment. This can take off a lot of the pressure and also get you on the road to improving that credit score. The credit repair service will explain that it will take time but if you stick to the plan your credit score will increase. Just stick to the plan!
What most people don't realize and you may be one of them is that practically everything we buy is affected by our credit score, well, not groceries. But you auto and home insurance are affected. I have no idea why, and their explanation sounds like a crook with his hand in your back pocket, but that has been the case for the past 5 to 7 years. Not only do they keep track of your credit score, but they share the information with all of your other creditors. Nice, isn't it?
You may be late on one credit card and you will notice that your interest rates moved on your other credit cards. Why would they do that you may ask? Well, they don't have to tell you but it is in the credit agreement that they revise every 6 months it seems that they have the right to change it at their will. It turns out that they were notified by the credit score agencies that you were late on a credit card or a car payment or a house payment and this gives them the right to start taking more of your hard earned money. The mob didn't even work this way.
So now you can see why I say it is extremely important to fix your credit score and to try to just keep improving it as you go through life. As I stated earlier, the credit crunch we are about to go through has not been seen in over 35 years and it may be even worse than that, it may be as bad as it was in the 1930's, where no one but the rich got credit. Let's hope that that doesn't happen.
