How Important Are We?

L. Hadley
I went outside, to the fields. I looked around, looked up. Imagined the Earth, inside the Universe. Imagined the World, its limits beyond my view. Then, I looked down, saw a little ant trying hard to cross the perils of my backyard grass, putting so much effort into her work. Yet, with a single step I could crush all her dreams. "So little", I thought, "this feeble ant". But wait a minute, aren't we all little ants, in this huge Universe? Yet, we think we are so great, so big, so important. Just like the little ant climbing the grass leave.

We have developed knowledge, science, philosophy, explanations to all matters, or at least hypothesis to all questions. We have even decided that we can choose if there is a God or not. As much as we can choose what to have for dinner. And we call it freedom. Freedom of thought, freedom of lifestyle, freedom of belief. Yet, we are so slaved into violence, corruption and death.

But maybe the World is becoming a better place! Maybe for you, as you live your life in a bubble of illusions and dreams. But travel around, walk in the shoes of the people that starve, suffer, and die by the thousands and they will tell you a different story. They will tell the story of death and sin that never ends, never improves and never gives up.

There is one person that offered true freedom. He said: "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." His listeners replied: "We have never been in bondage to anyone" Well, first of all that was a lie, as they (the Jews) were right there in bondage to the Roman Empire. But the answer to their statement was: "Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin".

We as little ants killed Jesus, the Son of God, as He came to this World to save us. We thought that we were so important, that we could choose if we wanted the Son of God or not. And even though we were not there physically when that happened, we keep the same line of thought: that we can choose to believe or not. God looks down on us and see us as little ants, yet He loves us, He loves you. He showed how far His love would go for you and for me. And that is the only thing in this huge Universe that brings some importance to our lives, that we are the recipients of His love.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16

Klyssa, have you ever read one book like The Case For Christianity or one book challenging the evolution myth? On another post you cite two things you think are intermediate forms. If your myth is true there should be millions of intermediate forms. Maybe you are the one with dogmatic ideas. In the heart of the inner city, where the poor and the distressed are located, I find few Liberals with their pontifications and many heartfelt Christians ministering to the physical needs and sharing the Glorious Good News of Christ.

"So your solution is to sit around and talk about God instead of taking responsibility for your family, humanity, and lending a helping hand? Do you do that because it's easier to pray and opine and exclaim that life is horrible due to sin than to actually help someone?" I don't sit around and talk about God; I helped to raise my brother who is an adopted child, with severe cerebral palsy, blind, can't speak, can't walk, and other disabilities. I spent 23 years changing his diapers, and helping him to eat, shower, get dressed, and go to several therapies. I wrote a book about his life to help other people going through the same situation. And I did all that with love, because God adopted me first, and did much more for me.

The theory of evolution puts forth that we are all family. The dogma of religion puts forth that those of other religions are heathen and must die.

Be very careful of accusing a person who does not subscribe to your theology as "a bubble of illusions and dreams." In fact, they could, and would, turn the table on you and pose the same accusation. Also, many non-believers see many of the woes of the world that you laid out as being partually due to mysticism.
