How to Improve Your Beer Pong Game

Alex Parks
Are you constantly made fun of by your friends for your continuously pitiful beer pong performances? Do you find that you are always far too intoxicated at the end of the night because you can't seem to sink a cup? If you answer yes to either or both of these questions, chances are your beer pong game needs a good bit of work. However, fear not! For years I was a shockingly bad beer pong player in desperate need of some serious training. When I went to parties, I always seemed to be the first one off the table and the most inebriated after trying my luck two or three times throughout the night. Thankfully, I had a breakthrough this year that has allowed me to play a consistently solid game of pong. Below are a few of my discovered strategies that helped me dig out of my multiple game losing streak:

I. STAY CALM

First and foremost, if you are reading this article it means that you are extremely self conscious about your beer pong game. You probably get nervous every time you are attempting to throw that ball into the little red cup. The number one piece of advice I can give to you is RELAX. After all, beer pong, like any other game, is just a game! Furthermore, beer pong is an extremely silly game that should not be taken very seriously in the first place. I found that I began having my best results with this game once I stopped thinking about where I was throwing the ball. If you manage to stay calm and take this game a little less seriously, I'm sure you will see a significant improvement in your shot.

II. Use Two, Not Three Fingers

I know there are a lot of very good pong players who hold the ball with three fingers. However, I know even more people that hold the ball with three fingers who can never really throw the ball where they want it to go. If you think about the physics of throwing the ball, you will realize that two fingers is far more accurate than three. With two fingers, there will be less of the chance of the ball sticking to one of your fingers and going in a direction that you don't want it to go. Furthermore, I know many people who switched to a two finger throw and claim to have better results. In the end, if you are reading this article and happen to have a three finger throw you really have nothing to lose by trying two fingers.

III. Practice Makes Perfect

Before going to college I only used to play pong once in a blue moon at parties. However, for the last couple of years I've had the chance to play a good bit of one on one in friends basements as well as set up a table in my dorm room on occasion. The bottom line is that for any game or sport, practice really does make perfect. If you are in desperate need of an improved beer pong game I suggest setting up a few cups on a table in your house. If you parents don't like the idea of you drinking you can just fill the cups with water :) I'm sure that if you practiced a few times a week for a few weeks, your game would most certainly improve :)

Well, that's about it for now! I hope that these suggestions are as helpful to you as they were to me. If you have any luck with these tips, I'd love to hear about your stories of glory and success.
