Are you frustrated because you are tired of paying high interest rates and desperately want your credit score rankings to go up so that you can receive better rates? Let's begin.

Understand the importance of credit scores You probably already know how credit scores work, what you may not know however, is how extremely important these scores are. You see, lenders use credit scores not only to offer you the best rates but to determine your ultimate credit worthiness and whether you should even be offered a loan in the first place. The lower the numbers the more likely you will get denied for credit or receive a bogus and extremely high interest rate. The higher the number, the more likely you'll get approved for a loan with a lower interest rate.

Understand how credit scores are determined. Credit scores are based on five basic parts. Payment history is determined by thirty percent. Fifty percent is made up on how long you had credit and thirty percent represents how much you owe. If you are new borrowing this will represent ten percent and the types of credit you use represents the last ten percent. In other words, the best thing you can do to improve your credit is making payments on time. This keeps your numbers high and helps you improve on them. If you want your credit scores to improve you will also have to control your debt.

Mange your money. You must make managing your money and paying down debt a priority. Next, you must figure out how much you credit you have available and make sure that you keep that amount low, preferably 30% or less. If your credit cards are maxed out or close to it this will bring your credit ranking down.

Additional tips. Obtain a copy of your credit report every year. Make sure you check to see that all the information is accurate located on your report. If you notice any delinquencies or errors, you need to clear them up immediately. In addition, you cannot apply for new credit and should not close out old accounts as these typically help improve your credit score. Instead, focus on maintain good accounts that are still open. Always keep things manageable, making sure you have a solid history to fall back on. If you follow these tips, your credit report rankings should improve dramatically.
