How to Improve Your Golf Game

Golfing is a sport that takes both precision and skill along with die hard patience, lets face it golfing can get down right frustrating at times. If you are having trouble getting the ball into the hole then just follow these tips to improve your overall game.

First things first, purchase some golf lessons. Yeah I know you think that with enough practice and enough time spent out on the range you will improve your game, but not if you are using incorrect stroke patterns. Try seeing if your local golfing facility offers lessons on basic stroke patterns as a start then go into more advanced techniques as you progress.

Next you want to understand how each club hits. To truly play an excellent game of golf you have to know what club to use and on what shot. Do yourself a favor and spend a little time on the driving range testing out how each club hits while recording the distance for later games. Knowing when to use the right club can be the difference between a par and a double bogey.

Going on the premise of understanding how each club hits you want to note that if your ball is only a foot or two away from the edge of the green go ahead and put it in. A lot of beginners and amateur players think that if you are outside of the green in the rough you need to use a wedge, well that is not true. A wedge is good for knocking the ball out of the rough, but a putter will do the same thing when the ball is close enough to the green, while increasing your chances of getting the ball in the hole with fewer putts.

Now taking a look at your body movement during the swing you want to make sure to keep your head steady during each hit. Whenever you move your head you disrupt your flow of contact with the ball. Think of your head as the pivot that the rest of your body turns around, the steadier your head is during the swing the more likely you are to come into solid contact with the ball.

Finally you want to keep a good sense of humor. Golf is a game after all and although many people can get stressed and serious about it, it doesn't mean that you have to. By keeping a sense of humor and laughing whenever the wind carries your ball into the lake, or whenever you get stuck in front of tree you are keeping a positive outlook on things and will see your game stay at a constant positive level. The point of the game is for you to relax with a couple of your friends and swing away the work day, not to throw your clubs into the ground or crack one over on the cart.

So overall as long as you keep a cool head and follow these tips you will begin to see your game improve to lesser numbers.
