How to Improve Your Health

Everyone develops habits in their day to day lives. Some of these habits are good and some not. Most people do not have good eating habits. Acquiring good eating habits will help you improve your health tremendously. Let's look at some of the common bad eating habits that plague the world today.

1. Going without breakfast.

While you were asleep the night before, your body was resting and also fasting. Your body has not had any food put into it since the night before. Food is what fuels the body. Skipping breakfast is one of the worst eating habits you can have.

Tip: Eat something. The best thing to do is eat a good hardy meal at breakfast to prepare you for the day ahead. If you simply can't take the time to do that, then at least have some fruit and juice. The body needs fuel every 4 hours to perform properly. Try eating something every 4 hours and see if it improves your health.

2. Living off of power bars and energy drinks.

You may get a rush of energy from these things but you are depleting your body and it will catch up to you. These bars and drinks simply don't have the vitamins and minerals that the body needs. They are a temporary fix, nothing more.

Tip: Prepare some trail mix at home. Mixed nuts and fruits to snack on through out the day are a good way to keep your energy up and improve your health. Makes some at home and bag them up. Take them with you where ever you go.

3. Exercising on an empty stomach.

One should not eat a meal before working out, but should not workout on an empty stomach either. Eating a meal before a workout will make you feel sluggish and working out on an empty stomach causes your body to work with out fuel and eventually will make the body shut down from exhaustion.

Tip: Eat an apple before you work out. It is light and will give the body some good sugar to burn. Eating some fruit before a work out is another simple step you can take to improve your health.

4. Eating as little calories as possible.

For the people trying to lose weight, starving yourself is not the healthy way to do it. Counting calories is a way you can mathematically figure out how to lose pounds. Don't forget though, the body needs a certain amount of calories to perform at its best. Don't go below that.

Tip: Always ask you doctor about things like this. Many doctors will tell you not to go below 1,200 calories. Research the formula for calorie counting and plan to lose 1-2 pounds a week. This will safely allow you to improve your health.

Turning your bad eating habits into good ones is a sure way to improve your health. There is an enormous amount of literature on the Internet about food and health. Take some time every day and learn about what's good and bad for you. Implement as much of the good habits as you can into your life. Little by little you can begin to improve your health.
