You probably think that smart people are born the way they are. But in the book of The Everyday Genius by Peter Kline, it is mentioned that genius people have a lot of quick fixes for mental improvement than other people who haven't figure them out. Many psychology and education experts including Kline think that the ways that the geniuses used to improve intellect, creativity, memory and alertness can work for anyone. In additions, this mental shortcuts not only get the jobs done faster, they get it done better too.

One of the fast way to improve your intelligence is to forget about your old intelligence quotient (IQ) score. Nowadays, intelligence is not only defined by test result but also by the abilities that you use to learn and progress in life. So you see here that intelligence can always be developed. A more practical view of intelligence is the is being able to do things in the world is intelligent. Every passing second is an intelligent test to us.

IQ test only covers two of the seven different kinds of human intelligences, which are language and logic/mathematical skills. Each of these type of intelligences to a different kind of education. The remaining five that are musical, visual, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal and interpersonal offer equally valid ways to learn. So how do you know which styles suit you well? Easy! Just spend a few days taking down notes on your favorite pursuits and how did you learn to do them. Did you start playing the piano by first reading about it in a bookstore? Look for the patterns in your methods. The following clues will help you to identify them.

Put your learning clues to use by aligning them with a certain intelligence style. Consider how you would learn to play a guitar.
Language learners might listen to a tape or buy books describing how to play the guitar.

Logical learners would analyze the components of a guitar's playing before trying it.

Visual learners would see how the actual playing is being done.

Musical learners would seek out the rhythm of the act.

Interpersonal learners would bond with the instructor and talk about the guitar playing steps

Intrapersonal or self-directed learners will decide why guitar playing is important to them and come out with an individual learning style.

Which of the above learning style suits you best? Learning will become easier if you can choose the method that is most natural to you. Learning is easy when it suits your personal style.

Learning something new can be very frustrating as most people will think that they have to grasp a new subject all at once. "Decode" the secrets of a new subject by dipping into it without thoroughly understand all the details. Let take taking a cooking course. Go to your local library and browse in the hobby section. Look through a few books, skim the introductions and scan the chapter headings. This short introduction will give you an overview of the subject and prepare your mind for more detail facts.

Tune in to Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. This method works best if you have discovered that you are a musical learner. A learning specialist by the name of Lozanov has found that for some people simply listening to classical music during study increases retention of new material. This method is very successful in learning new languages. Music from the classical periods has an orderly and logical rhythm that can help the order of your mental state and speed up your learning.

Visual learners learn by observing their surroundings. The mind can absorb visual cues in the environment even though you don't seem to pay attention to them. Take advantage of this fact by surrounding yourself with images and symbols that related to your goals. If you want learn Chinese, put the Chinese characters up on your walls.

Sketch your thoughts. If you want to access your brain visual powers, draw pictures of new material to learn it faster. There was a case where a student in an act memorized all the words in a 3-hour play in a night. He did it by drawing images that reminded him of the words and remembering them instead of just the language.

Sometimes we don't learn because we think we are not smart. Create an audio tape to counter the negative self-talk. Fill the tape with positive messages such as I am very creative or I can do it . You can also record short messages on a tape that repeats or record a full tape and use a portion of it each day.

During each session, turn on a piece of classical music and turn down your affirmation tape to a barely audible hum. The combination of musicand so called subliminal persuasion can create amazing fast and lasting results. Listen to the tape daily for 15 minutes.
