Adding siding to your home does not have to give it a boring blank effect; by installing brick veneer siding a home can be given character while protecting and insulating it. The result when completed is that of a brick built home for a fraction of the cost. It is fixed to the exterior walls of a building and is made up of the same material as conventional bricks. It can protect the average home from adverse weather conditions and is virtually maintenance free.
Further advantages of brick veneer siding is the variety of finishes that are available to suit any home or taste. Because this type of siding is made up of the same material as conventional bricks, there will be peace of mind when installed as standard brickwork has been with us for many years and is proven to withstand all the adverse weather conditions that nature has to offer.
As well as adding to the appearance of your home, when installed to its exterior internal walls, can benefit from its rustic appearance and many home owners have chosen to clad an interior wall of their home with brick veneer siding and enjoy its warming effect. This type of veneer has also been used in pathways and fireplaces and, when used, can transform a home without breaking the bank.
The installation of brick veneer is very easy and there are a number of ways it can be carried out. If it is being secured to a solid exterior wall, the method of fixing will be the same as ceramic tiling. However, prior to fixing, all surfaces must be inspected for loose mortar or any type of irregularity. Time must be spent on the preparation to ensure a satisfactory result. If the veneer is to be fixed to a house with a timber exterior it will be advisable to leave a small gap and in areas of adverse weather conditions install some type of insulation between the veneer and the original exterior of the house. If this method is to be used, attaching the brick veneer siding at regular intervals is essential.
