How to Improve the Look of Your Living Room

Jaleh
My husband and I enjoy spending time together in our living room. However, we didn't always feel this way. A few months ago we wanted to make the living room a happier and more comfortable place to spend time in. The living room looked messy and a bit gloomy. We want the living room to look clean, attractive and colorful. After talking it over with my husband we came up with some wonderful ideas how we can improve the look of our living room.

·Get rid of the clutter. My husband and I discovered that there are many things such as clothes, dishes, food and toys that are in the living room that need to be stored somewhere in their own places. So we took everything that didn't belong and placed it in the right place. For example, the toys were transferred in the kid's room and the food in the kitchen.

·Give your living room a paint job. The paint job did wonders to our living room. The walls of our living room use to be blue, which made it, look gloomy. So we decided to pick a brighter color. Then living room was painted white but with a pink tint to it which really brightened up the room. It also made our living room look like new.

·Purchase a new living room set. Our furniture was about ten years old and it looked torn and stained. My husband actually had the furniture before we were married so it was time for a new one. We were lucky we were able to sell our furniture for $50 dollars, which doesn't seem much but we got to put it towards the new living room set. We bought a new living room set for $1,000 dollars at Room Source. You can find some great deals at Room Source. The living room set came with a couch, sofa, two end tables and two lamps. For an inexpensive way to transform your living room purchase furniture slipcovers. Those are great and cost around $60 dollars. You can buy furniture slipcovers at Target or Sears.

·After you have completed the major part of the remodeling add a few special touches to your living room. For example, I bought fake flowers and a beautiful vase to place on my coffee table. I also bought some nice scented candles to keep the living room smelling good. Some other items were sculptures, paintings and family pictures.

These tips have greatly helped our living room to improve and I know it will help you to. Please write me if you have additional suggestions on how a living room can be improved.

I admit I change my living room around a lot. I've taken a tip from Trading Spaces in that you can take items from other rooms and put them elsewhere to achieve a new look and a different function for the pieces you already have.
