Improving your memory or exercising your brain is useful for day to day life and more. Here are a few suggestions and ideas as to how you can improve your memory.

1. Try some brain training exercises and games. Use parts of your brain that you don't normally use, or that you haven't used in a long time to help improve your memory.

2. Try writing things down or saying them aloud - this will help you remember things and in the long run will help you improve you memory.

3. Learn a musical instrument. Try learning a new instrument - you will find that learning something new will help you to focus, think and improve you memory all at the same time.

4. Try doing puzzles. Anything from Sudoku to crosswords. Doing these short and simple exercises will help you concentrate which will result in improved memory.

TOP TIP: If you are trying to remember numbers or even dates - how about saying them aloud, making a rhyme with them, or writing them down and reading them several times over until they are imprinted onto your brain.

5. Jot things down and make lists. Try to improve your memory by writing down what it is you want to remember. Try to only write a few things down at a time, so that you don't give yourself an information overload.

6. Use mind mapping techniques. When it comes to improving your memory why not try to use brainstorming or mind mapping techniques. Seeing things written down might just help trigger your memory at a later date.

7. Make associations with events, for example If you want to remember a date why not associate it with something else that happened on that date, or something that reminds you of something. Use associations to help you remember birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates.

9. Use pictures, diagrams and drawings. Seeing something as a picture or as a photo may well help you improve your memory.
