But memory, like other powers, must be cultivated. Meantime, the memory is less every day. There are techniques to improve memory in order to bring to our mind memories as well as valuable information that we must remember.

The memory is defined as the authority of the mind to recall past events and bring them to the current awareness clear and sharp. The memory works in conjunction with the perception. When we receive information we perceive our environment. Retain what we perceive it through memory.

Therefore, if we improve our ability to memorize, we need first to work with perception. To succeed we must have desire for it. It is important to want to memorize, to want to learn. A student can not memorize material for an exam if he does not want to learn this information. So it all starts with the desire to memorize.

Another way to improve the ability to retain information in our minds is through reading. The reading should not be done mechanically. Further to read, meditate on what is being read. Be applied to our lives, the new concepts learned, should have meaning for us so we can bring to consciousness when needed. In order to further reading, it should be so slow. That way the information is recorded in our minds. But in addition to read slowly, also read out loud. When you read aloud do it with the proper intonation. It is as if you were telling yourself a story.

Nothing in the memory will improve if what you read above is not implemented. You can learn more easily if is repeated aloud or tell someone else. You can also write your ideas. Write the most important ideas; this is an excellent exercise to improve your memory. But there are other tips to follow and they are related to nutrition and healthy lifestyles:

1- Take a good breakfast every morning.
2- If you are on a diet, do so under medical supervision.
3- Eat a good amount of fruits and vegetables.
4- Avoid drinks with caffeine such as coffee, tea and soft drinks.
5- Make a light dinner.
6- Sleep at least 8 hours a day.
7-Avoid refined sugar, fried foods and processed foods.
8- Take an iron vitamin supplement.

Following these recommendations will improve your concentration and prevent decay, irritability and depression, which affect the ability to memorize. But remember, the most important thing is to want to remember, otherwise forget it.
