Many different types of situations affect multimedia streaming. For example, when a video is recoded or converted into different formats several times before it is uploaded, blurry playback can result. Along with slow Internet connections and outdated drivers, sluggish transfer rates can also cause indistinguishable video streaming during the buffering phase. A few tips can make the difference between foggy fuzzy and sparkling clear.

View the streaming video using a computer with a broadband connection to improve buffering and video clarity when playing streaming videos. If you are viewing the video on a high-traffic site, this could also contribute to issues with the quality of the video, regardless of your Internet connection. Trying viewing the video on a different site with less traffic.

Upgrade to the latest version of your browser. Newer browsers are faster and address major issues discovered in previous versions. The most recent versions of browsers can handle high definition streaming video more easily than earlier browser versions.

If you uploaded the video, try to reload it using the recommended resolution for its size. Use 640 x 480 for 4:3 SD video resolution and use 1280 x 720 for 16x9 HD video resolution.

Contact support through the website displaying the blurry video and report it as a problem. The help you receive depends on the website owner's company policy.

Note that recorded or converted videos will not look as good as original source videos streaming on the Internet. If you know you are watching a video that has been recoded or converted, it may already be streaming at the best quality possible for its format. This is typically the case with older videos that need to be converted to a newer format before being placed on a streaming server.
