How to Improve the Success Rates of IVF

Kristine Brite
In vitro fertilization is a last resort effort for many couples trying to conceive because it's expensive and doesn't always work. Unfortunately, couples don't have many options for improving outcomes. Couples wanting to improve the chance of IVF success are limited to trying acupuncture. Some studies, including one German study that showed couples raised chances of conception by as much as 50 percent by using acupuncture, found acupuncture helped, while other studies could not prove acupuncture helped.

Step 1

Find a qualified acupuncturist with experience treating infertility by looking in the phone book for acupuncturists and then calling and asking about history working with infertility patients or by asking for referrals.

Step 2

Schedule a time to meet the acupuncturists to ask about qualifications and treatment options.

Step 3

Schedule appointments for before and after IVF treatments as recommended by your acupuncturist. At least one study showed that acupuncture shortly before and shortly after IVF improved chances of conception.

Step 4

Complete the in vitro fertilization process at a medical facility.

Step 5

Undergo at least one acupuncture treatment shortly after the IVF treatments. Keep any follow up appointments with the acupuncturist and all appointments with IVF doctors.
