Perhaps the most important thing you must do in order to always have fresh ideas in your mind is to read. Reading will not only be beneficial in allowing you get more information or learn new skills; by reading your brain grows in creativity and ideas. You can read anywhere you want; and as far as the content goes, it is better to read books about topics you really enjoy and would like to write about later on.
It is also a great idea to take notes while you are reading. Taking notes will allow you to keep the best ideas or passages of what you are reading fresh. Later on when you translate from reading to writing, your notes will make a great source of ideas and inspiration in whatever project you decide to write about.
Look around. Stop for a moment to realize all the details around you and you'll be amazed at what you are missing. You can do this indoors and outdoors; take a closer look to the trees around you, the sky with its clouds, mundane things such as the shape of your desk, the bugs passing by or the pictures hanging at your hose. You'll feel more relaxed and inspired.
Avoid trusting in your brain to remember everything because eventually you'll forget a great deal of information. Write notes down, type in your computer, use a voice recorder or have a whiteboard so you can remember all your ideas.
Don't try to organize your work before you have enough ideas. Organization is good and will really help you in your project, but if you start organizing too early you will be limiting yourself in your ideas. It is better to have a lot of ideas written down without order. Write everything that comes to your mind, and once you are sure you have everything you need organize your work.
Ask yourself constantly. Always search for answers no matter how simple they seem. Ask the why's and how's in everything you see and make more emphasis in subjects that provide great interest to you. Your brain will be challenged and grow in strength.
