How to Get a New and Improved Job

Kaya Cassan
Are you tired of your job? Do you wake up feeling tired and lethargic? Do you resent everything about your job including your boss? Do you need a change? If you have answered yes to all of these questions you may need to change your career. Or, you may want to look for another job or ask to be transferred. If you love your job but dislike the people you work with that can only lead to resentment and anger. Personally, I would leave.

Your fist step is to contact and employment agency. They are always best to use because they will do the hard work for you. There job is to get you a job. Therefore, go home, revise your resume, and have someone else proofread it for you. Get your resume polished. Make a list of all the employment agencies you hope to work with and give them all calls. They will more than likely as you to send them your resume. Therefore, send it to them and most of the time they will redo or proof your resume as well. They will probably call you in for testing. After the testing, they will see your skills and try to place you. Now, in order to get a job with them you may have to stay on top of them. I suggest calling at least twice a week to see if they have any new leads.

After you have exhausted the employment agency route you may want to go ahead and post your resume online. I would suggest all the major sites including monster.com, headhunter, etc. But, you may not want to add your name and specifics because you don't want your other employer knowing your plans. After you have done the obvious, go ahead and do you own searches and send your resume out. I suggest trying to send at least 3 resumes a day. This may sound tedious, but well worth it because we all know what it is like to not like your job. This may really get the ball rolling.

Also, explore your own resources. Tell all of your friends and family you are looking for a new job and you would be surprised at how word of mouth can get you a new opportunity. Career Fairs may also be a route for you. The key is to network and get your name and resume circulating. Because we have had jobs we didn't like and point blank, life is too short to be miserable.

You also have to remain positive and focused. Pretend you are Michael Jordon going for a national cup. Keep your eye on your goal and slam dunk it by staying focused, proactive and positive.

Tips to Remember:

-Sign up with an employment agency. They will do the leg work and help you revise your resume.

-Post your resume online but try and hide your identity because you may not want your employer to see your name and know your next move.

-Do your own search and send your resume to companies you would like to work for

-Word of Mouth. Tell everyone you know about your need for a new job opportunity

-Stay positive and know that as long as you try you will succeed at finding a new place to work.
