How to Incorporate Exercise into Your Daily Life

Exercising Every Day is Not Difficult

Bev Cohen
Most of us know how important it is to exercise. We start off with a dedicated workout plan, whether at a gym or at home. Then life interferes and the time spent exercising decreases. We have jobs, kids, household chores, etc. How will we ever stick to a workout routine? Following are some ways to incorporate exercise into your daily life.

Gym

Let's start with perhaps the most difficult exercise regimen to maintain on a routine basis. Going to the gym is obviously a great way to get in shape. But it requires driving to a gym, spending a certain amount of time in a gym, then driving home. To some people this becomes a chore after a while. And even though the workouts are beneficial, they might be boring. After all, who wants to run on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike for 30 minutes anyway? These days gyms offer a lot more than stationary exercise equipment. Many gyms offer dance classes that give you a total body workout to music! You may thoroughly enjoy working out to a beat. Or try a yoga class. You may find that varying your workout routine will give you the much-needed motivation to exercise more often.

Walking

Walking is a wonderful form of exercise and it's easier to do than you might think! It is great cardiovascular exercise and it relieves stress. Following are some tips on how to walk your way to health on a daily basis.

Whenever you have a choice between stairs and an elevator, take the stairs. Rather than pushing a button and going for a ride, burn calories and get in shape by walking up the stairs. After all, that's what the StairMaster does at the gym.

Whenever you have to park, instead of trying to find a close spot, find a far spot. Then walk that extra distance. You can even power walk to burn more calories. Think about all the places you park in a week; grocery store, office, mall, gym, post office, dry cleaners, movies, etc. Walking the extra distance consistently will make a difference. And not only will you be exercising, you'll be eliminating the stress of trying to find a close spot to park.

Exercising on a daily basis is not as impossible as it might seem. Without too much effort, you may find a daily exercise routine that works for you!
