How to Increase Your Conversion Rate In 8 Tips

Arman Panji
Randy (not a real name) is one miserable noob in internet marketing. He wanted to make money by selling stuff online. Signed up to a reputable affiliate network, tried everything he can think of to promote the products but fail miserably. Even though his 4-month old site can attract around 3000 unique visitors a month from the search engines he made no more than 10 products a month. That's a lousy conversion if you ask me.

Chances are you're facing the same problem as Randy - either selling your own product or someone else's but cringe on the low conversion. If so the following tips may help you to increase your conversion rate. Note that I'm not an internet marketing guru but compared to Randy's pathetic conversion mine is much higher:

1. Use catchy headline

* Use bright colors like red or orange so your reader's eyes immediately focus on the headline. You can also use other catchy colors if red/orange won't mix well with your overall theme.

* State the benefits of your offer in the headline. Do not wait until the first paragraph of your landing page to do so - it will be too late for that.

* Make it short. Use sub-headlines to state more benefits but your headline should be no more than 20 words.

2. Tell a story

A story, fiction or non-fiction, will attract your readers better than boring one-sided copy. That's proven.

3. State more benefits in your sales copy.

Use bulleted or numbered list for this. It allows your reader to scan the copy but still managed to digest the benefits of the product or service you're offering. Remember to state the benefits instead of the features. If you cannot distinct between the two yet it's a good time to start learning now! You can also state a benefit followed by the feature that cause it. That works well too.

4. Take advantage of reviews, testimonials and endorsements.

Honest testimonials and reviews from customers add credibility to your offer. Make sure that the reviews enforce the benefits of your product or service. Reviews like this : "Wow, your product is superb. I owe you big time" is not going to increase your sales since it does not tell the readers why your product is so great. Also remember to put photographs along with the reviews.

5. Offer bonuses that complement your product or service.

Do NOT overdo this by offering too many bonuses. This will only tell your reader that the product/service you're offering is worthless (so much that you need to offer all those crazy bonuses to make people buy).

6. State your guarantee.

Offer a long term guarantee and honor it when people actually ask for refund. Do not ask why or any other questions when your customer ask for a refund. Just give their money back cause if you don't he will spread the news, guaranteed. Remember, bad news spread fast.

7. Tell them that the price you're asking for your product/service is nothing compared to the benefits.

What is the potential profit if your prospects buy your product? What is the potential loss if they don't? How much do your competitors charge for similar product/service? Answer these questions and tell your prospects about it.

8. Call to action.

Tell your prospect to act now and give them a reason why. If your offer good for limited time only write how much time left before the offer expired. If you sell limited quantities tell them how many are left.
