One simple yet effective technique to induce your own astral projection is using The Dream Method. It begins when you go to bed at night. You must be sure that you're not tired enough to fall sound asleep the moment your head hits the pillow. How do you accomplish this? Don't eat a heavy meal right before bed. Go to bed about an hour earlier than your normal routine. Prop your pillows up and lie on your back with your head and shoulders slightly lifted. Have a cup of green tea with your dinner.
When you're comfortable, close your eyes and concentrate. Keep your mind focused and alert by repeating the affirmation in your head: tonight I will have an astral projection; tonight I will have an astral projection... As your dream sneaks up on you, you'll notice the most random sounds and voices coming out of nowhere. As soon as your mind registers something unusual, grab it, repeat it to yourself, and take note of how unusual it is. For example, if you're falling asleep and a voice calls out your name-- take note of the voice and how out of place it is there in your bedroom at this hour of the night. Strange thoughts will drift into your mind. If you find yourself thinking, for no particular reason, that you need to paint the mailbox before the socks fall into the river-- grab it, and take note of how odd it is that you'd be thinking that. Continue this process, slightly waking yourself up each time you notice you're drifting off, until your dream finally overtakes you.
You're conditioning your mind for astral projection. You're teaching your subconscious to recognize anything dream induced and out of the ordinary. You're also keeping your brain awake and alert as you go to sleep. Typically during a dream, if you were just walking through town when a rainbow umbrella with a face stopped you for directions, you wouldn't think anything of it. It would be just another day in dream town. When your mind is actively noticing the unusual, you might stop to reconsider that talking umbrella.
As soon as it clicks that you are actually asleep in bed and all this is just a dream, one of two things will happen: You'll either have a lucid dream (an incredible experience where you, the dreamer, gets to conduct all the happenings in the dream, converse with the participants of the dream... or even request to exit the dream and have an astral projection,) or you'll open your eyes, sit up in bed... and realize your body is still lying down, sound asleep. Congratulations! You've just induced an astral projection out of a dream.
Have fun on your astral travels!
