1. The first thing you have to do when you are redoing your kitchen cabinets is to figure out what you want. Figure out what color you want and what would look good in your kitchen. Take into consideration how many cabinets there are and the style of the rest of your kitchen. If you have drawers, you'll have to redo do as well so that they match your kitchen cabinets
2. Take all the cabinets down. As you are taking them down make sure you mark them somehow so you will know where to they go when you want to put them back up. Numbering them is the easiest way to make sure you can put them back where they belong once you've repainted them.
3. Once all your cabinets have been taken down, it's time to sand them. You have to sand them so that when you paint them, the paint will stick to the cabinets and look great. You don't have to sand until all the paint is off of your kitchen cabinets, just until you notice that they are not smooth and shiny anymore.
4. The next step to redoing your kitchen cabinets is to paint them. For best results, use a primer. You'll also have to paint the area around your kitchen cabinets to make sure that everything looks well put together and uniform. If you have a lot of cabinets, you probably won't have to wait until you can start painting with the color you have chosen for your kitchen cabinets, but do make sure that the primer is completely dry before you start on another coat. You will most likely have to paint two coats of the color you have chosen onto your kitchen cabinets to make sure that there are no visible streaks or paintbrush strokes.
5. Once your kitchen cabinets have all been painted, you can add some extra things to make them look even better. Knobs are a great way to draw attention to your new kitchen cabinets, and you can find cheap ones at second hand stores and even home improvement stores. Another easy way to add detail to your kitchen cabinets is to use sandpaper to sand the edges of the cabinets. Sanding them removes some of the paint and gives the cabinets an antique look.

Post a CommentThank you thank you! I was ready to get all new cabinets,Great idea!
I'm hoping to do just the cabinet doors and not have to take the cabinets down. I'm sure the prep work is the same, so appreciate the info.
Good ideas, this is something I need to do!
