What You Must Know in Order to Understand

The essence of initiative is self-leadership: which is the ability to undertake your work without the constant intervention and verification of your immediate superior or boss.

In other words, it is to make decisions on your own instead of waiting for your superior to make them for you, "And what happens when employees are self-directed? In a recent survey, senior executives replied that the most important factor in productivity growth over the past five years was in the fact that employees were involved in making decisions and taking the initiative.

Leadership knows no borders, and leaders don't have a hard time leading in any part of a company, no matter what position the employee holds in the organization "According to another recent study, entitled Liberating Leadership Report, published by the United Kingdom's Industrial Society, more than 80 percent of those who showed genuine leadership abilities have corresponded, according to employees surveyed, to people in positions with little authority.

Another study showed that, on average, the formal leaders of an organization are responsible for less than 20 percent of leadership based decisions within a company, while their subordinates are essential to achieve the remaining 80 percent.

Unlike managers who use the goals of the organization as guidelines, leaders inspire their members to achieve these goals through their actions and example "All that is needed to be a leader is a vision of how things should be and enthusiasm to convince others to share that vision and initiative to make things go "As Ken Blanchard says. This management guru and coauthor of The One Minute Manager also said "Today, the key to successful leadership lies not in having authority but in having the power of influence ".

Some employees lead to become agents of change, and are people who identify, pursue and implement changes in their spheres of influence. In order to become an effective leader you have to want to be an agent of positive change, raise your voice when you see discrimination and do what you can to be the mediator that looks for a solution in which nobody loses in any given situation.

Your goal should be to have the organization you are a part of see you as someone they can count on to say aloud what you think, ask questions and make suggestions, off course approaching every situation with class and a productive attitude. This is never a part of the job description but putting this into practice will allow you to excel and succeed in any situation and position.

You can be a leader if you focus on mastering your influential skills as this expresses power. Remember that each person is persuaded differently, so identify weaknesses and your leverage.

Get support from others and ask them to accompany you on your efforts to improve the organization. Take actions that work for the best interests of the group and express your feelings in the group. Treat people individually and ask for their support and always avoid the blame game with others.
