How to Install AddOns in World of Warcraft

There is an AddOn for just about everything in World of Warcraft, whether you want an AddOn to help you sort your bags, help you make auction purchases, or help you find your way easier by editing your map, you will need to learn how to install AddOns before you can use them. This article will give simple step-by-step instructions for installing AddOns in World of Warcraft.

Step One - WoW Folder

You need to find your World of Warcraft folder by opening Windows Explorer and navegating to the correct folder. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you will find it under C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft. If you're on a mac, you will need to look around for your World of Warcraft folder.

Step Two - Navegate to AddOn Folder

The AddOn folder is a bit hard to find but is actually within the World of Warcraft folder. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you will find it under the folder Interface. In the Interface folder there will be a folder named "AddOns." The full path once again is C:\Program Files(x86)\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns.

Step Three - Find AddOns to Install

The best site to download AddOns for WoW is called Cursed, and you will find it here: Cursed. Find the AddOns that you would like to download, and I recommend saving them to the desktop until you are done finding the ones you want.

Step Four - Unzip

Unzip all the AddOns you have downloaded onto the desktop and put them into a folder. It is easier to move them all at once than to move them one at a time, and this way you'll be more organized. Once you are ready, select them all and drag them to your AddOns folder from Step Two.

Step Five - Check that they are working

Login to the game and see if your AddOns are working. You may have to click the AddOns button in the lower left side of the screen at the character selection screen and click "load out of date AddOns". Otherwise, any AddOns that haven't been updated recently will be ignored by WoW.
