If you're tight on money and have a new car stereo, you may decide to do the car stereo installation yourself. Installing a new car stereo can be very easy for anyone who has some experience in wiring. This tutorial will show you how to install a new car stereo head unit into the dashboard of your car.

Before purchasing a new car stereo, make sure that you get one that will fit your car's dash properly. In addition to this, you may need to get a wiring harness that is specific to your car's specific model. Buying a wiring harness will make the entire process much simpler.

1. Collect proper tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, and electrical tape.

2. Remove the old stereo. Before starting, disconnect the ground cable from your battery. After doing that, you will need to remove the dash panel the covers your car stereo. You may need specific instructions on how to remove the dash panel for your car.

3. After removing the dash panel, unscrew and slide out your old car head unit. After removing the head unit, you should see a single plug with many wires that connect to the back of the stereo. Do not detach them yet to avoid confusion.

4. If you have a wiring harness, you can plug the connector into your new wiring harness. This should plug directly into the back of your new stereo. If you do not have a wiring harness, you will need to wire the stereo manually. Simply match the wires with corresponding colors. Most new car stereos have manuals that tell you how to match wires. You can also use the old car stereo as a reference.

5. Connect the positive wire from each speaker to the positive connector located on the back of the stereo. After that, connect the negative wire from each speaker to the negative connector. After that, connect the ground wire of the stereo. The ground wire is usually black. After connecting the ground wire, connect the 12 constant and ignition power wires to the new stereo system.

6. You are now ready to insert your new car stereo. Slide the new stereo into the mounting bracket that was included with the stereo. You may also be able to use the bracket from your old stereo system.

7. Now, reconnect the negative cable of your car battery. You can then turn your car on and test your new stereo.
