Material and tools required:
Ceiling fan
Ceiling fan electrical box (See Step1)
Brace (See Step2)
Screw driver
Long nose pliers
Wire cutters
Adjustable wrench
Step1:
Before purchasing your ceiling fan, remove your ceiling light and check to see if the electrical box in the ceiling is secure and will support the weight of the fan you plan on purchasing. If the electrical box is secure and fasten to a joist, you will not need to purchase an electrical box and possible brace.
Step2:
If your electrical box is not secured to a joist, you will need to purchase an electrical fan box and a brace.
Step3:
Remove old electrical box and install brace between the two joists in the ceiling and center it with the hole in the ceiling. Make sure the legs of the brace rest on top of the drywall or plaster. After making sure that the brace is flush with the ceiling and centered, tighten the brace with an adjustable wrench.
Step4:
Pull electrical wires through the new electrical box and secure box to brace.
Step5:
Carefully unpack your new ceiling fan and read the installation instructions. The first step will be to install the mounting plate to the electrical box.
Step6:
Some mounting plates have a hook so that you can hang the motor housing on the hook while you connect the electrical wires (refer to instructions). If there is no hook you will need someone to hold the fan housing for you while connecting the electrical wires.
Step7:
With the electrical wires connected, mount the fan to the mounting plate and tighten the screws securely.
Step8:
Referring to your instructions, mount the fan blades to the fan.
Step9:
If you have a light kit, now is the time to connect it to your fan. Check with your installation instructions on how to wire the light kit and mount it to the fan.
Step10:
Add the pull chains to the fan and light. Your project is now complete.
Always refer to the manufacture guide for proper operation and maintaining your new ceiling fan.

Post a Commentif the blades are in two parts, I found it easier to attach the blade to the arm before attaching the arm to the fan. Of course I found out the hard way. I didnt make that mistake again!
