How to Install DVD ROM Drivers
Download the Compaq DVD Rom Driver
Download the DVD Rom driver from the Compaq website. You will have to find the correct driver by selecting the type of computer that you have. If you have a desktop, the model should be inscribed on the hard-drive. If you have laptop, the model should be written on the bottom of the laptop. Once you find the model of your computer, you scroll down until you find the "DVD Rom Drivers" section. Download the driver and save it to the desktop.
Install the Driver
If you have an external DVD Rom drive, plug in the drive into the applicable port and wait for the computer to find the external hardware. Click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and right click on the Hardware option. You should see an Icon for the Device Manager. Click on the Device Manager Button and scroll through the listings until find the DVD Rom drive that you are trying to install. Reinstall the drive into the applicable directory by selecting the install from specific location feature. Select the drive that you previously download and click finish to complete the installation. If you have an internal DVD ROM drive (most computers do), then skip the plug-in instructions and go directly to the Device Manager icon.
Installing Compaq DVD Rom drivers are not difficult once you have performed this task a few times. Good luck!
