Many people have a number of safety locks, especially on the front door of their homes. It's important for you to take safety precautions in regards to your home. This is why garage doors are crucial to have. If you have just installed a new garage door in your home, you must install a control console.

Tools Required: drill, 3/16 to 5/16 inch bits, 5/32 inch bits, stepladder, tape level, measure, cutters, socket set, pliers, pencil, hack saw, wrench, screwdriver and hammer.

Installing a Garage Door Control Console

Recommendation: Purchase a Craftsman Belt-Drive Garage Door Opener if you haven't installed one yet. Most garage door openers come with a control console. The opener should also include an automatic garage opener bracket and strengthener. The header bracket requires a solid support. Installation of the parts may vary depending on the type of garage door.

You must remove the pull rope from the garage door to prevent injury. Remove all locks. Make sure your garage door is lubricated and balanced. Eliminate any gaps between the door and the floor.

Lay out all the parts from the garage door opener on the table. Make sure you have all the parts before you begin. You must assemble the rail. The trolley should be installed on the rail. The rail should be fastened to the motor unit. You should now install the idler pulley.

You must place the header bracket and attach the rail to it. Place the opener/track assembly up. Support the track assembly with a 2-by-4. Lay the track assembly flat on the tracks. You can now remove the 2-by-4.

You can now install a garage door control console in place. Run the bell wire to the opener. Place the light bulb after the emergency release handle is installed. You should now install the sensors depending on the manufacture's instructions.

The door bracket must be installed. The door arm should be connected to bracket and trolley. Adjust the opener. Test the garage door. Open and close the garage door. Install the safety labels that came with the door opener and control console.

Now that you know how to install a garage door control console, you can save some money on installation. So what are you waiting for? Drive to the store, and purchase the supplies you need.
