Material and Tools:
Pipe wrench
Screwdrivers- straight and Phillips
Hose clamp
Plumber's putty
Wire nuts
Hacksaw
Disposal unit
Step1:
If you have a two-tub sink, remove the drain lines that connect each tub. Remove the strainer from the tub that you intend to install the disposal in. Next remove the strainer body which forms the rim to which the drain line was attached.
Step2:
Apply plumbers putty around the base of the disposal flange that's included with the unit. Place the flange in the drain hole and seat firmly in place.
Step3
Install the gasket along with the upper and lower mounting rings on the flange and then snap the retaining ring in place. Tighten the screws on the lower mounting ring until the flange is firmly seated. Attach the disposal unit to the flange according to the manufacture's instructions.
Step4
Attach the discharge tube to the discharge opening in the side of the unit.
Step5
Install the drain lines. If you have a two-tub sink you can route both tubs through a single P-trap by running the discharge tube from the disposal to a T in the drain line above the trap.
Step6
Connect the electrical line from the switch to the disposal unit. Refer to the manufactures directions for any special wiring details.
