With the recent advances in wireless technology, and the wide availability of wireless equipment, a lot of people have begun to install wireless cameras in their home or other places so that they can keep an eye on things while they are away. Not only does this add another layer of security for your home, but it allows for the addition of even more security features such as the installation of motion detectors either separately in the home or as software applications that go along with the streaming images that are sent via wireless camera after they are sent across the Internet.

Installing a home surveillance camera system in your home that is accessible via the Internet is now a rather straightforward, inexpensive and easy proposition. All you need are wireless capable cameras and an existing wireless network in your home.

Here's how you do it. First take a survey of your home, your objective is to figure out how many cameras you will need to be able to see every part of the inside, or even outside of your home. Also, you will be looking to see how you might want to mount those cameras, as you can of course, just screw them into a wall, but that's not very attractive. You might want to hide them in plants or around or near a piece of artwork, or perhaps inside of a stuffed toy. While you are doing this, it might be a good idea to note that if you choose to continue down this path you need to make everyone else that lives or works in your home aware of the cameras otherwise you could very easily run into some privacy issues, or even legal issue if the cameras are placed in bedrooms, bathrooms or other changing areas.

At any rate, the cameras will generally come with batteries so you won't have to worry about plugging them in and since they should be wireless capable they should show up in a web browser from anywhere on the Internet as soon as you turn them on and then type in the IP address that is assigned to each particular camera. To change cameras all you need do is type in the IP address of a different camera. In practice what you'd do is create a folder on your computer and then bookmark each camera so all you'd have to do is click through each one to see what is going on in front of each camera.

Also, it should be noted that there are other wireless ready cameras that come with motors and software you can load on your computer for manipulating the camera remotely, but of course that adds a lot to the cost of your system.

To sum up, installing wireless cameras in your home so that you can see what is going while you are away, is now as simple as buying and installing wireless ready cameras and then turning them on.
