How to Install Memory in an Acer Aspire 3620 Laptop

RAM (Random-access memory) plays an important role in the performance of your computer. Basically, the more RAM you have in your laptop, the faster it will run and the less likely it will be to crash. Many people are under the false assumption that they are limited by the amount of RAM that came with their laptop, but this isn't the case. You can install more memory in your Acer Aspire 3620 laptop by removing the old RAM sticks and replacing them with new ones that have more memory.

Step 1

Turn the laptop over so the back is facing up. In the center of the laptop there is a panel with two screws holding it in place. Loosen the two screws. The screws will not completely come out.

Step 2

Run your finger under the edge of the panel cover until you feel the two tabs that are holding it in place. Press in on the tabs to release and remove the cover.

Step 3

Remove the RAM sticks that are already there by pushing the retaining clips away from the RAM module. The RAM will pop up once the clips are pushed back and then can be easily removed.

Step 4

Slide the new RAM sticks into position with the metal contacts facing down. The sticks should be tilted slightly upward. Press down firmly on each stick until it snaps into place securely.

Step 5

Place the cover back over the panel and tighten the screws.
