What is Android?

Android is a mobile operating system initially developed by Android Inc. Android was bought by Google in 2005. Android has a large community of

developers writing application programs ("apps") that extend the functionality of the devices; there are currently over 200,000 apps available. Android Market is

the online app store run by Google , though apps can be downloaded from third-party sites.

The Backflip

AT&T released its first android device, the Motorola Backflip . However, it is set up intially to not allow non-market applications to be installed. The

programmers or designers left a loop hole that if you know how, can utilize it to install any android application onto your phone. Granted that the application is

for your version of the operating system.

Step By Step

System requirements:

Java SE Development Kit (If you don't have this you can visit Java to download it.

First, you will create a folder on your C: drive or harddrive .

I used the name ADB but the folder can be named anything you want.

Now go to Android.com And download the android SDK software development kit

Click next and proceed with installation.

You will need to download the Motorola USB driver for 32-bit (For Windows Vista & XP from here

run the software as usual.

So, we now have successfully installed the SDK and the USB driver go to your backflip , under settings then selecting the applications tab open the

development section.The very top option should be USB DEBUGGING Check that. Now taking the EcoMoto USB /Charging cable plug it unto

your PC's USB port, and into your phone. (See print screen for reference)

We have all the required software installed now, here is where it gets complicated.

Go to the ADB folder you created, open the folder labeled Platform tools

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/platform_1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

Go to ADB folder again, and open the folder labeled Tools

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ createfolder _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

What we are going to be doing here is copying the following DLLs from the platform tools

AdbWinUsbApi . dll and the AdbWinApi . dll

Now paste them into the tools folder.

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ thedlls _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

Don't close your tools folder just yet! Go back to My Computer, select your harddrive yet again. Press Crtl and F key bringing up search function. Type CMD

and look under all files and folders.

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/search_1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ cmd _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ coppycmd _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">
Right click on cmd . exe after search is complete it ( will be in your windows/system32 folder) paste it in the Tools Folder that you still have

open. Now you're ready

Leaving your Tools Folder open, copy and paste the . apk (android game & application file extension) into the folder.

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ theapp _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

Click on CMD . exe

You will see this:>

C: adbtools

Type

adb install (your application's name). apk then press enter.

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/success1_1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

src =" https ://s3. amazonaws .com/readers/2011/02/09/ screenshot _1. jpg " border="0" alt=" Photobucket ">

It will tell you if you are successful or not.

If you get this failure notice, [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_ SDK ] this means your operating system is too old to run this application/game or vice versa .

The game or application should be on your device now. Happy gaming!
