How to Install a Web Calendar on Your Website

There are many reasons why people need calendars on their website. Maybe you own a website for a club and need to post events on the calendar for everyone to see, what ever the reason may be. You can now easily install a web calendar by going through your C-Panel. The web calendar that is offered in your control panel is a really nice calendar. This calendar is a PHP calendar. It can be used as a single person calendar or a multi-person calendar. This calendar and be set up in different ways. You can use it as a calendar to keep your important events in, your important reminders, doctor appointments, or as I said before, you can use it for groups and stuff.

Web Calendar has a long list of features. Some of the features include
View calendars by day, week, month or year
View another user's calendar
Add, Edit, or Delete users
Add, Edit, or Delete events
Checks for scheduling conflicts
Email reminders for upcoming events
Email notifications for new/updated/deleted events

These are just a few of the features. In this tutorial I will show you how to quickly install the Web Calendar.

Login to your website's control panel. Look for the Fantastico link. Click on the Fantastico link. On the next page you will see a list of links down the left hand side of your browser. Under the Other Scripts category you will see the Web Calendar link. Click on the Web Calendar link.

The next page will give you a brief description of the Web Calendar. Below that you will see the New Installation link, the amount of disk space required, and how much disk space you have available. Make sure that you have enough disk space available before you proceed. Next you will need to click on the New Installation link to begin your installation.

On the next page you will need to fill in the information needed to properly install your web calendar. Most of the fields are pretty self explanatory but I will walk you through them incase you don't understand them.

Installation Location

Install on Domain - From the drop down box you will need to select which domain you want to install the calendar on. If you have sub-domains then you will have more than one choice.

Install in Directory - To install the web calendar on the home page, leave this field blank. If you want to put it on a new page, then type in the name of the new page. Make sure that this name does not exist.

Admin Access Data

Administrators Username - Create a username to use when you login to the admin area of the calendar.

Password - Create a password to go along with your username above.

Base Configuration

Admin Name - Type in your name in this field.

Admin Last Name - Type in your last name in this field.

Admin Email - Type your email in this field.

Preferred Language - Choose the language that you prefer to use.

Cron Job - You can leave this at 15 minutes or up it to whatever you want. This is how often it will check for reminders and stuff to send to you.

Now click the Install WebCalendar button.

The next page will tell you that you have chosen to install the web calendar on your domain and in a certain directory. What ever you chose. If you are satisfied with this then click the Finish Installation button.

The last page will show you your username, password, and the URL to your web calendar. Bookmark this page or print it out incase you forget this information.

Now you are ready to start setting up your calendar.
