Install Windows Updates on Computers Without an Internet Connection
We'll see how to retrieve updates for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and the various versions of Office with Windows Updates Downloader.
1. Installing Windows Updates Downloader
First visit: http://wud.jcarle.com/
Click the "Download WUD225B895Setup.exe" to download the software.
Then run the downloaded file. Click "Install".
The software is now installed.
2. Recovery lists Updates
Run the software via the Start menu.
You will be asked to install lists Updates to use Windows Updates Downloader.
Click on "Updates Lists" (ULS)
Then you get this list of available updates.
Only select those you want to download.
Take for example the one for Windows XP: Windows-XP-x86.ulz.
Just click to download the list, it will be imported directly into Windows Updates Downloader.
You can download the same list for Office 2003, Windows 2000, etc.
The Updates will be available depending on the language selected in advance.
3. Download Updates
After you click to refresh the lists available we get a drop-down menu where we can select the desired list.
Select the desired Updates for example above the "Critical Updates". It is obvious that you can also select them.
You can also choose any updates within each of the categories. You don't have to select all updates if don't want to. Your updates will be downloaded. They will be downloaded in the default installation folder of Windows Updates Downloader.
It will be possible to change the package by selecting "Change".
Then click to start the download.
The download will be in progress.
At the end of it your Updates will be in the download folder by default as we have seen above.
You can also easily integrate a CD created by NLite by telling it where it is located.
We can say that Windows Updates Downloader is a very handy tool to recover Windows Updates quickly without going through the Windows Update site. The major benefit is that it automates a tedious and unrewarding task. It is also easy and very quick to update.
