How to Instantly Organize a Closet

Lehticia Leo
Closets are more often than not a huge mess. In the rare case that a closet is not a huge mess, then I guarantee you nine times out of 10 that it will not be organized to its fullest potential. You do not have to have OCD to maintain an immaculate closet, all you need to do is know a few tricks of the trade.

Step 1: Color Code! I like to go from lights to dark in this particular order. I first start with white,Beige, pinks(I hope most of you do not have enough pink clothes to fill out this entire section.)Then i move on to the Brighter Colors such as Yellows and Reds. Then finally the darker colors until my last section is black. You get the picture.

Step 2: Face Your Clothes Hangers Inwards! I know it may be tempting just to stuff the clothes inside of your closet and disregard what direction your hangers are facing, but don't. Facing your hangers inwards towards the back of the closet makes things look more streamlined and organized than it would if every single one of your hangers were facing in opposite directions. The clothes will not hang properly if all of the hangers are not facing in the same direction.

Step 3: Space Your Hangers Evenly! Ideally you would be able to have approximately an inch in between every hanger, but In some closets there just is not enough space for this luxury. What you will do is place your finger in between two hangers when you can slide one index finger into the space between the two hangers then you know you have spaced them out properly. Do this for the entire closet, don't just stop half way because its boring.

Step 4: Color Code Shoes! If possible color code all your shoes from lightest to darkest and set them in about two rows with even space between each pair of shoes, enough space so that when you pick up a pair you do not move the other ones surrounding it at all.

Final Note: Just remember organizing your closet can be lots of fun if you go into it with the right set of mind , with the right information, which you now have. Nothing is more rewarding than looking at your hard work pay off, even if is something as small as a closet.Organization has got to start somewhere.

Nice tips. I like an organized closet, too. It saves me time searching for things.
