Interior Design Style
Scan through the interior design magazine. Highlight, circle, or fold the tip of the page that has rooms you can imagine in your home. Do not worry about the price of the items on the page. Simply mark everything that you like. Revisit these pages and see which style patterns are repeating. The contemporary styles, may be repeating. Or you may marked all of the pages that feature southwestern design. Make a list of the top three design styles that you are drawn to. Your goal is to identify your personal interior designs style.
Room Design
What area of your home are your designing? It could be the kitchen, bathroom, teen rooms, or the master bedroom. If you are doing all of the work yourself, try to stick with one specific room. Complete this room first, before moving on to the next area of your home.
Practical Application
Sit down and realistically see how much money you can spend for these home improvements. Budget out an amount for each room. Create a list of everything that you would like to purchase for each space. Use the interior design magazine as a reference point. Look at the back of the magazine to see if there are any listed prices and manufacturer names listed. These magazines usually include a product description, website, and ordering information. If you see key pieces that would create the style you want in your room, get more information. Visit the manufacturer or retailers website and obtain the dimensions of the furniture. If you are ordering accessories, write down the dimensions so that you will know if the size of those pieces fits in with your design.
Interior design magazines are a great low cost alternative to purchasing expensive design books. These books are best purchased after you already know which style you want to decorate in. Your list should help you to establish what style you want, what rooms you will improve, what pieces you will buy, and how much it will all cost. Use online coupon codes and special sales to receive discounted furniture and accessories. Start designing the home of your dreams, room by room.

Post a CommentThis is a great idea, I agree. I also agree with T. Hillukka down below me. I've never actively used interior design magazines like you describe! Sad to say
Good ideas. I went to school for Interior Design, so I have a ton of design magazines, but I still have a hard time opening them up and actually getting something out of them!
