He descended and freed the captives then rose from the dead where he was seen by the apostles and more than 500 people. Forty days later, he ascended to heaven where he is now seated at the right hand of the father.
Jesus taught the disciples the entrance requirements for getting into heaven and told them to spread the word to all nations. After the Lord's ascension, many of the apostles recorded the Lord's words which are in the books of the New Testament.
Essentially, Jesus said that one must be born again in order to enter the kingdom of heaven which of course is referring to a spiritual birth. "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:5)
Since all of us have experienced a physical birth in the flesh, we have completed the first part of the Lord's requirements. However, we are mere flesh until we experience spiritual birth without which, we cannot enter heaven. "...flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." (1Cor. 15:50)
In order to be born of spirit we must believe "...that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." (1Cor.15:3)
Anyone who wants to be born again needs only to realize that Jesus is indeed the Christ, the visible image of the invisible God, and recognize the sin in his or her life and the need for a savior. Then simply go to him and pray the following prayer from your heart or the equivalence in your own words.
"Lord Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for my sins and that you rose from the dead. Forgive my sins, and help me repent. I want you to be Lord of my life."
Then you will belong to Christ and the Holy Spirit will quicken your spirit, sealing you for the day of redemption.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."(John 14:6)
There is no greater love than for someone to lay down their life for us, and that's exactly what Jesus did. We are bought with a high price, but that's how much he loved us.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
"...if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Rom. 10:9)
Therefore, in order to enter the kingdom of heaven we must believe in the name of the only begotten son of God, repent, confess him before others and obey him.
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt.11:29)
